It seems Scott McClellan's book has caused quite a stir in Republican circles.
Obama's campaign is saying that it is a non-story:
"It’s not news that this Administration engaged in spin and deception to lead us into a war that should’ve never been authorized and never been waged."
This is true.
But . . . according to Politico:
• He [McClellan] says the White House press corps was too easy on the administration during the run-up to the war.
Yes, the press has an important role to play in asking truth of power.
But isn't the role of those who authorise force even more important?
Should one of these journalists now ask the Clinton campaign, "Scott McClellan says that the press corps went too easy on the Bush administration in the run up to the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq, do you wish now that you too had not gone so easy on the Bush administration? Do you think you should have asked more questions - any questions - before authorizing force?"
