Don't know if this has been noted here before, but CNN is just now reporting that Obama is resigning from Trinity. Looks like the new pastor problem pushed him over the edge.
This is a shame that a visiting speaker forces Obama to resign from a church of 20 years. This country needs to decide how interested it is going to be regarding it's president's pastors. I'm afraid this campaign has crossed a line that might be difficult to return from.
Sorry about the short diary.
EDIT (from a comment I posted below).
I think both sides need to think seriously about this stuff. After this whole affair, if you're thinking about running for office some day (5 - 10 years in the future, or next year), you have to start thinking RIGHT NOW about your church. You need to start listening to sermons - and realizing they are all taped, videoed and live streamed over the internet - and you've got to think, "What will this look like on a 30 second loop played 5000 times on cable news?"
Resign now and renounce your church community, before it's too late.
This "precedent" is going to apply to repubs and demos, now that we've crossed this line.
