I'm satisfied with the RBC ruling, and quite perplexed at those claiming that not counting "every vote" in FL and MI is disenfranchising those that voted in the primary...in fact, I argue the opposite.
First a bit about me:
I'm a Florida voter who was told multiple times that because our state legislature moved up the vote in the primary, our vote wouldn't count. I don't think that anyone who voted that day in the democratic primary was confused or unaware of this. Because of that, I never changed from independent to democrat (you have to change party affiliation at least 30 days before the vote). So, when I voted in January, I didn't have the opportunity to vote for Obama - who I would have voted for if I'd thought my vote would count (i.e. - that would have made me change my registration from independent to democrat), simply because I wasn't a registered democrat...
In March, I changed my voter registration to democrat, hoping that I would be able to vote for Obama in a do-over primary. Unfortunately, that never happened...
Flash forward to today:
This compromise has been more than fair to those that actually voted in Florida (I don't even want to begin on the Michigan mess), because they knew going in to the voting booth that their vote wouldn't count, and they came out of the meeting with a vote that did count - even if for 1/2, it is a lot more than it was going to originally.
For me personally, I never got the chance - I'm saddened that I didn't get to vote for Obama - I guess I just grew up believing that the rules were the rules...when my state broke them, I accepted the punishment, and worked at getting him elected in other states that did follow the rules. In that respect, this compromise was nothing if not more than fair to HIllary Clinton.
At this point, let's just get this thing wrapped up. I hope that this rules committee will do just that. I guess, I'm just so anxious for Obama to be able to go full force after McCain, and for it to get the full network coverage...
It is going to be so enjoyable to have a candidate who doesn't walk into the Republican frame of "national security"...and who isn't scared of taking it head-on!!
GOBAMA!
