Some of you may know me, as a pretty constant and ardent supporter of Hillary Clinton.
This isn't easy guys, it's been a tough year-and-a-half long campaign, but it's time to get together and let the divisions die down as we gear for the fight of our lives together
First a word on why I began to supporter HRC in the first place. When she announced I saw a woman who was worthy of inspiration and strong, and someone who was with me on 95% of the issues (Notable disagreements include: Early support for war, non single-payer HC plan, though i still prefer mandates, and don't think thats unreasonable position for this blog and liberals). As the campaign went on I was very impressed with her and my support hardened, though as a 22 year-old male there were many voices pushing me toward Obama, I stuck with Hillary and some of the fellow bloggers I enjoyed.
Some of these bloggers are great people, who disagree with a majority of people on Dailykos, but should still be respected as we are all adults and capable of disagreeing without hating one another (there are notable exceptions on all sides of course)
Then it got ugly and partisan. Many of those bloggers left Dkos, including me, though I only stayed away for a about a week ;) I agreed and still do with some of the points the Clinton camp was and is making, but the divisiveness started to get to me, from both camps honestly. At first I was fine being in it and constantly arguing, but recently I just want to unite behind Obama and go on full force. WE MUST DEFEAT JOHN McCAIN!!
The NoQuarter crew and their supposed smear tape has also helped push me over the edge. Larry Johnson's incredible foolishness to suggest something so divisive is out there while admitting to only third hand accounts is naive and dangerous, he is likely being played for a sucker by the repugs, and can't even see it because of his blind hatred for Obama.
The last few days I have trended towards Obama, and although part of it is Hillary dimming chances, as I begin to try and open myself up to Obama, the more and more I'm impressed and actually WANTING (not feeling like I have to) be behind him.
The campaign he has run is quite amazing, and when you really look at it, the best quality is that it really came from the people, it's a ground swell and I think the way to achieve change is through the people. HRC's campaign has improved drastically in this measure, but too little too late.
Don't get me wrong, and I know this will be the greatest point of contention in this diary, but I still think Sen. Clinton is a great asset to our party, and will be an asset in an Obama administration in whatever form. I think she has persevered and shown that strength and determination really do deserve other's respect. And amazingly, she wast the FIRST WOMAN IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES TO WIN A PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY. I think that is something we can ALL be proud of.
And to all my fellow Clinton supporters, know that Hillary wants you to support Obama, it is, in the end, your decision, but Hillary and Obama have much more in common, don't let silly personal things get in the way of our democratic issues that must become reality for the sake of our great Country! It's our time to show that we stand together, don't let 4 delegates divide us, our causes together and the things we believe in are stronger than that...
It's OBAMA"S TIME!
He will win!
He will change America!
He will prevail and show the world what America is REALLY about!
HE IS OBAMA08:
Let's go Democrats!
small update: First, thank you guys so much for being so welcoming and for the first time on Rec'd list! That is amazing. And when I say first woman to win a presidential primary I mean, a state primary, with New Hampshire win, Clinton became the first woman to win a primary, that is impressive. LET'S GO OBAMA!
