So I'm bopping around here and there trying to keep track of just how many superdelegates are endorsing Obama... it's enough of a deluge that various web sources are having trouble keeping up.
Right here on Kos, it's still 23.5 on the FP table (as I write), 22 in one diary, 10 in another. The Obama website has 12 and 16.5 ON THE SAME PAGE.
All right, so I'm burying the lead. USA Today has Obama at 2123 delegates -- 5 OVER the finish line. If they're right... it's over.
Already.
Thanks to everyone who wrote diaries pointing out the historical nature of this occasion, celebrating on behalf of their ancestors, posting the ever-beautiful videos of Obama speaking, and generally making my cry.
Congratulations to everyone who worked for, donated to and voted for Obama. You were amazing, dedicated, inspiring and brilliant, and you deserve to jump for joy for a while before settling into general campaigning.
Clinton supporters, congratulations also. I know that if things had gone the other way, I would be crying for the historical nature of that occasion also. It's a shame that one of two historical candidates had to lose -- but it bodes well for the future that they were both there.
Time to join together and say, when the inevitable question is asked, "Is it possible? Can racism be so behind us? Can the people pull together so as to create real change?" ---
YES WE CAN!
