Hillary Clinton really went over the line tonight.
This night, June 3, 2008, is one of the most historic nights in American political history, not to mention world history. For the first time, an African-American is the nominee of a major political party in the United States.
However, Senator Clinton decided tonight is about her. She made no mention of his win, or the historic significance of Senator Obama's run for the presidency. She was still spewing her talking points of being the stronger candidate, winning the popular vote, etc.
I understand that she has been running for the presidency for a long time, and it has been a long road for her. There is no doubt that she has smashed barriers for women across the world, and has shattered the thought that a woman could not get this far.
But seriously, this night should be about Barack Obama becoming the nominee of the Democratic Party. If Senator Clinton had any class, she would have at least made a mention of his historic, significant, tear-jerking, inspirational, and all-around astounding win.
Classless.
Selfish.
Almost unbelievable, but what have we learned from this primary? She is not beyond doing the unbelievable, time after time.
UPDATE #1- Our nominee's speech is really making me feel better.
UPDATE #2 - Our nominee just gave a heartfelt thanks to Hillary Clinton, followed by a thunderous applause from the crowd. Now that's class.
