As an African-American female in Georgia, I have felt slighted and dismissed by Hillary Clinton. But tonight, I feel different.....
My Blog
I have MSNBC streaming live on my PC (thank God) and CNN on my television. I had decided to give politics a rest after watching the RBC meetings on Saturday. I was just tired of all the drama, and was just going to wait until after today to looking at media coverage of the race again. But a friend of mine was asking me about watching and celebrating tonight because Barack will be the nominee and this divisive fight will be over. I'm glad I did decide to tune in tonight.
For many reasons which I will not repeat because I am in such a good mood, I DID NOT like the campaign Senator Clinton ran. We'll leave it at that.
However, I am embracing party unity and am able to write off the objectionable behavior of Senator Clinton as political strategy. I was a HUGE, HUGE fan of Bill Clinton. Although, I think the Clintons (yes, I said the Clintons) could bring alot of drama to the White House and could possibly negatively effect Obama's presidency, I also have a feeling that when it comes down to it, Hillary could be a great asset. Not only in bringing her ardent supporters to Barack, but as a policy wonk in his administration. I am worried about the Clintons challenging his authority, but at the same time, I think Obama is strong enough to ward off any undue influence. (AGAIN, IT MIGHT BE THE ALCOHOL, I'll let you know in a few days.)
Tonight is a night to celebrate and embrace the Democratic Party. Now it's time to get Barack into the White House and let McCain go and have a nice life enjoy his wife's money. It's time for a change! NOW!
