Yep. It has already started. Obama's an elitist, waaaah.

Of course, it's always funny when the smear machine gets caught with their pants down in the caviar. More, below the fold...

Here's the video, courtesy of Media Matters.

David Brooks, provocative columnist concern troll said the following...

They just look at Obama, and they don't see anything. And so, Obama's problem is he doesn't seem like the kind of guy who could go into an Applebee's salad bar, and people think he fits in naturally there.

Media Metters contacted Applebee's, who confirmed that, yes, Obama would have a problem fitting naturally into a salad bar there.

Because there is no salad bar at Applebee's.

David Brooks? For your Kevin James Moment, I award you with both the "I Don't Know What The... I Don't Know" and the "Head Fail" award for today.

Eugene Robinson had the perfect comeback: "I tend to take this sociology a little more seriously when it's delivered by people who actually eat at Applebee's more than once in a decade."

Nicely said, Eugene.

I say we have a whip-round and send David Brooks a gift-card for Applebee's, so he can see how the common man treats himself occasionally. Although he may not want to eat there, seeing as he's so full of himself as it is.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

But the chauffer is off today.
("Off" means working at one of his other jobs, since I'll bet dear Mr Brooks doesn't pay health benefits, or a liveable wage to cart his man-o-da-peeple ass around from studio to studio.)

Or maybe his butler can look it up on teh Google.

Brooks has been singing high praises to suburban ordinariness now for a long time. Oh, the Red States, where the picket fences are blazing white and the coffee refreshingly devoid of steamed milk.

I usually can't stand reality TV shows, but I've got a proposal for a sure-fire winner: David Brooks in the Simple Life: Exurb-Bound. I'd like to seem him survive a week without his trusty cellar of pinot noirs.

Brooks is just about the least credible voice on this subject.

Because it's more about publishing hit pieces against the media every time they say something bad about a Democrat, RATHER than actually assessing whether what is said in the media is fair or not, is in good taste or not, is accurate or not.
