Ben Bernanke
I read an article, the other day, by Lawrence Kudlow, a proponent of Reaganeconomics.
What interested me most about it, was his opinion that the Chairman of the Federal Reserve, is now signalling that he wants increase the value of US dollar.
For some background on the US Dollar, the Federal Reserve has sat back, and let the Bush adminstration depreciate the value of the US dollar, in a cynical bid to boost US exports.
My major worry, is that we are seeing a rerun of 1992, when Bill Clinton won the White House, then had all his policy initatives vetoed by Alan Greenspan.
If Obama wins, then I can see Bernanke pick up the phone, congratulate him then tell him, he can't do this and he can't do that.
Alan Greenspan had buyer's remorse, he indulged George W Bush's policy of racking up deficits and debt, then, safely out of the Federal Reserve, decided to critise the Bush Administration.
Bernanke thinks that in the dying days of this administration, he can formulate economic policy which will hamstring a Democrat president.
Obama needs to make is clear as crystal, Bernanke needs to fall on his sword, because one rule for a GOP president, and one for a Democrat president, isn't fair.
