It is 8:17pm pacific time. Dennis Kucinich has been introducting 35 articles of impeachment to the United States House of Representatives for the last couple of hours. He is still going. He is basically laying out the grievances of a great number of Democratic voters. Voters like me. You would think that the 24-hour news channels would cover it, but no. Not one broke into regularly scheduled programming (that I saw) to cover it.
Even worse. Here are some screen shots from their websites taken around 8:25pm pacific time:
That's right. Griffey's 600th home run made the list, but the introduction of impeachment articles against the president did not. Hey, I know, let's go behind the scenes to find out of Obama is black or biracial. A Scott Peterson story? Are you fucking serious? As Bill Maher might say: New Rule: if you're a news network and you're still covering Scott Peterson in June of 2008, you officially have to change your name to the "Olds." Two sisters with leukemia become princesses? Jesus H Christ. What the fuck, CNN? What the fuck?
Yeah. Fox News tops CNN. They find things like a farmer in Ohio who almost lost his fucking outhouse more important than impeachment articles against the president. It even warrants a god damned picture. I want to cry. I think about shuffling off this mortal coil, because I seriously can't keep dealing with this shit.
Yep. Even our beloved MSNBC didn't find it worth covering. Not even online. But they did report that some woman with lyme disease was accused of making it up. I'll be back in a few, I'm going to take this newly found critical knowledge and act on it. I'll finish this diary up later.
Okay, I'm back. Honestly, I'm as big a fan of Olbermann as anyone, but I saw him at 5:00pm. Surely MSNBC could have cut his rerun at 7:00 to go to the House floor. I mean, a congressman was introducing articles of impeachment against the president.
I personally find MSNBC's coverage the best. Still, even on their politics page, there is no mention of Kucinich and impeachment...
Really? Race is a possible challenge for Obama? A possible challenge? Let's skip down three stories to talk about his Jewish problem next. Seriously MSNBC, do some work on your damn website. Hell, I'm a web application developer, hire me. All it takes to improve your site is a quick RSS feed to this site - which, if you and your other corporate media outlets are interested, is where your intelligent viewership went. Anyway, MSNBC is about our only hope of reaching those who can barely afford cable, let alone computers. Here is my letter to MSNBC titled Pathetic; Please Do Your Job:
It is pathetic that you are not covering Dennis Kucinich's introduction of articles of impeachment against the president of the United States. This is breaking news. You are a 24-hour news channel. Do your job. I love Keith Olbermann as much as anyone, but I saw him at 5:00 pacific time. I don't need to see him again at 7:00. You all completely dropped the ball on this one. Looks like C-SPAN has better coverage of politics than you do tonight - and they don't even have a damn analyst on their payroll.
Honestly, how can you not cover a former presidential candidate, and member of the US House of Representatives introducing 35 articles of impeachment against the president of the United States? You failed at what you are supposed to do tonight. Failed. Failed Dennis Kucinich. Failed me. Failed your viewers. Failed the United States citizenry. Failed our soldiers who continue to die in foreign wars unwanted by the public, but directed by this president. Failed the Iraqis and Afghanistanis who continue to die from our bombs and bullets despite our citizenry wanting it to end. Failed the human beings who continue to be tortured in Guantanamo. You have failed humanity tonight.
No matter how many Olbermanns you put on the air, you can not make up for this in any other way than by covering these impeachment articles tomorrow - and the next day - and giving Kucinich's articles of impeachment a chance at resonating with the American citizenry at large. Please do not fail us again.
Benjamin Brown
I encourage you all to write to the networks and 24-hour news channels. Please don't let them bury this. Use your diary today to force this issue to the front. The presidential race can wait. This issue is important today.
