In picking his running mate, Barack Obama has said he intends to keep the process confidential and is "not gonna do it in the press." But it appears that someone forgot to send the memo to Kent Conrad.
After meeting with Obama's vice presidential vetting search committee on Tuesday, the North Dakota senator told the Associated Press that Obama is considering former top military leaders for the VP slot....

Conrad didn't get into specifics, saying that the Obama team had tossed around "many names" among current elected officials, former elected officials and former military leaders, according to the AP...
That's a great leak for Wes Clark fans: Many of us have been hoping that the General would make the short list for VP -- even though many news stories of late have focused almost exclusively on Gov. Kaine, Sen. Web and Gov. Sebelius.
With the renewed saber-rattling against Iran, this is smart politics. Even if Clark isn't nominated, just keeping him in the mix can affect the other side's throat for war. And with McCain looking not-so-hot of late, chest-thumping may be the GOP's last best hope in the fall elections.
I think the world of Gen Clark -- a brilliant man who has campaigned harder and more effectively in more red states than anyone for the Democratic Party. If there's going to be a 50 State Strategy, it's smart to have Wes Clark be a part of it.
As VP? Great! Secretary of State? Terrific! National Security Adviser! The best!
It's good to have Sen. Conrad leak word that someone like Wes Clark is on the list. He should be on the shortest of short lists for each of those positions in the Obama administration.
