Gwen Ifill did a piece tonight on The News Hour with Jim Lehrer, contrasting the economic policies of Obama and McCain. You can read it here:

Plus, there's an audio at the website.
NANCY PFOTENHAUER spoke for McCain. JARED BERNSTEIN rep'd for Obama. While the audio and text show them both fairly equally matched, I fear to say the video did not.

Nancy is one of those shiny Republican ladies with the perfect skin, thanks to Georgette Klinger; Jared a telegenic nice guy. She came on like a doberman pinscher, and he hadn't dosed his latte with enough caffeine. I fear we're in for a long season. All these Repubs are super fighters, even if they're speaking garbage. All he had to do was say, "if you're trickle-down economics works so well, how come we're in the mess we find ourselves in now?" But he kept towing the Obama line on economics with nice-speak, while she made sure to poke bullet holes in his arguments with words such as "going back to 70s policies", "lunacy", "job killer", "lip-service", "protectionist", and made a pretty good-sounding argument why Barack's economic policy would be a "dismal failure." While she spoke (aggressively), he looked down like he was being attacked (he was). While he talked, she tilted her head to look at him and did a sort of mouth-pursing, amused, waiting to pounce again type pose. We need some bulldogs in the camp. These spots are so important. I understand that Obama wants to surround himself with personalities as equable and profoundly decent as he is. But some of them lack a deep confidence, enough to withstand the Republican bullies. I'm really unsure about Gwen Ifill, anyway. She was so biased pro-Clinton all through the primaries, that even PBS became a suspect news source. She may be one of those loonies who wants Obama in the crapper even though he has the nomination, and may have purposefully mismatched these two in the debate??
