Why double standards & mimicking the Clinton attack machine is a sad sign that the Obama campaign isn't as different as we had hoped it would be.
I find it very disturbing that the Obama staffers & supporters have so quickly abandoned the type of positive campaign he promised (on many occasions) as they have morphed into the evil twins that Hillary Clinton used in her failed bid for the Democratic Party's Presidential candidate.
It's pathetic how people like John Kerry & Wesley Clark would smear the reputation of an actual war hero - just so they can try to get voters to get a false impression about McCain so that their candidate might get an undeserved bump in the polls.
And it's very unpresidential of Obama to follow his staff & supporters into the slime as he himself pushed the coded comments aimed at sending the hidden message that they feel McCain is aforgetful, doddering idiot who shouldn't be the next President.
When Hillary allowed her people to act like this (and then joined in as well) it proved to everyone that she was not President material... and Obama is quickly following her down that same road.
If Keith Olbermann had any integrity at all, he would give the same special commentary that he gave for Hillary - only this time telling Obama that he is about to become as deserving of that speech as she is.
And enough with the double standard of playing up McCain's faults while downplaying his mistakes...
The ordeal that ended in Jim Johnson resigning from Obama's Vice Presidential vetting staff is a serious issue - for several reasons.
Johnson is closely linked (even if not charged with any criminal acts... yet) to one of the main topics shaping this fall's election. And Obama can't demonize McCain for having lobbyists on his staff when he has one of the biggest lobbyists working for him.
But... if that isn't enough for you, this is why it matters so much who is helping Obama pick his VP running mate:
Look back at the last time a questionable Washington insider was in charge of picking George Bush II's VP running mate... and think of how much this country could have avoided had Dick Cheney been scrutinized as much as Johnson was...
You can safely say that had Cheney been under the microscope back then as Johnson was recently... we would be in a totally different situation today!
If the Iraq War managed to happen at all, it most definitely would have ended at that "mission accomplished" ceremony... or soon after when Congress shut it down.
If you think the Jim Johnson debacle is "no big deal" - then you need to hold yourself & your party to that same standard & end the way John McCain's words are being deliberately taken out of context and stop the coded smear campaign in hopes of damaging McCain's reputation beyond repair.
If you feel that people did Obama wrong by keeping him accountable of his former pastor & Church and long lost aquaintances... then you can't deny that people are doing the exact same negative attacks on McCain now (and for the benefit of Obama)
I won't hold my breath for any of the Obama people to step up and do the right thing... or should I say: to do the thing that Obama said would be how he runs his campaign.
