New Rasmussen poll released has McCain up just 2.
Poll: Rasmussen
McCain (R): 45 (48)
Obama (D): 43 (45)
Other stuff from the poll.
In North Carolina, McCain is supported by 88% of Republicans. Obama wins the vote from 76% of Democrats and holds a three-point edge among unaffiliated voters. McCain leads among voters over 50 while Obama has the advantage among those who have not yet reached the half-century mark.
So there is definitely room to grow. Key number is winning the Independents.
McCain is viewed favorably by 55% of the state’s voters while Obama is viewed favorably by 49%.
Favorability isn't too shabby, but Obama has some work to do: 34% have a very unfavorable opinion.
Fifty-four percent (54%) of North Carolina voters say it’s more important to get the troops home from Iraq than it is to win the War. Forty percent (40%) take the opposite view and say victory is more important. These figures are similar to the national average.
North Carolina wants out of Iraq, like the rest of the country, probably why Obama is doing so well in a state that went to Bush by 12/13 points in 2004/2000 respectively.
McCain has North Carolina as "solid republican":
I don't buy it for a second.
Update: Just like to point out, since it has been commented so many times, that, yes, the McCain map is completely delusional and self-serving. Just wanted to add it to poke fun at how ridiculously out of touch that map is. A better map is one from 538, which actually reflects current polling.
