Good morning, just a short diary to address a noxious piece of mail I recieved.
This "letter" was sent to explain Barack Obama to me in terms of him being a radical Muslim. The well-printed letter, carefully worded and presented amounted to something more akin to an attack piece from a campaign that is losing.
Folks, when you get these sort of garbage flyers from wingnut sources, holy-roly extremists, and the like please be ready to be both insulted and astonished by the sheer audacity of the lies and fabrication that went into creating these letters. Let's jump...
The definitive answer to these letters is, "Rubbish" and a quick dispatch of the paper to the shredder.
But to get a grip on how pernicious this garbage is, and how this meme is expanding and becoming more fanciful by the hour seemingly, turn to the experts in debunking garbage like these attack letters namely, the good folks at snopes.com.
It is getting silly. Laughably silly.
You have to read Snopes to get the full import of the attack, meant to, by guile and bale, deceive the public with lies. 1 in 10 believes this claptrap, and wise-asses we may run into while papering a neighborhood with Obama literature use this meme to mock our efforts.
This is why I urge everyone who can give even half-an-hour a week to volunteer to do something to help get Senator Obama elected. Obama will not elect himself, there has to be a campaign, and that takes people. And, you can bet your bottom dollar that McCain's workers will not go away quietly, and will play the race issue at every single turn, we have already seen this here in Syracuse. We have our work cut out for us. Obama needs to be brought into every town and village and hamlet, down every dusty road, in every pokey and forgotten corner of this land.
If we do not do this Obama will not be elected, and America will have McCain, which means Bush/Cheney III.
This is not shaping up to be an easy campaign. Do not be seduced into believing it's all downhill and inevitable. From here, in this out of the way place, I have already seen brutal racism and polarization at simply the mention of Senator Obama's name. This is not going to be an "automatic" affair. A public restive for change needs more information...and that means beating the streets, stuffing mailboxes and being willing to answer questions...sounds easy, but it is not so easy already.
We have our work cut out for us.
