I guess you all have seen the pictures of the Illinois senator taking his daughter out for a bike ride this weekend. There has been a lot of criticism of his apparence and the senator has now recognizied that this wasn't his best day off work.
Senator Obama, not always "Cooler Than Thou"
During a fundraiser today Obama was reminded of his embarrising apperence:
one bicycle enthusiast yelled out, "Thanks for wearing a helmet!"
We all remember what cost Michael Dukakis the presidency in 1988:
Mr. Obama suggested that before donning the helmet, he remembered one of the cardinal rules of politics:
never allow yourself to be photographed wearing nerdy headgear.
There you have it. Typical Washington excuses: I was thinking about NOT wearing the helmet, but I did.:
"I had an internal debate," he said. "Because I knew that the A.P. was going to take a picture, and they were trying to portray it like Dukakis wearing that tank helmet. But I wanted to make sure that the children who saw that picture knew that even the Democratic nominee for president wears a helmet when he goes biking. (Hearty applause.)
Yeah, that's right. Blame the children!
This would not have been as damaging as the Dukakis gaffe 20 years ago if it wasn't part of a pattern. This is not the first time the junior Senator has been wearing nerdy headwear.
Thanks to my friends at Hillaryis44.yo and nopennyusa.net, I can know present to you evidence that Senator Obama is just another Dukakis:
And I've heard rumors that there are more pictures of him out there with even more ridiculos headgear...
UPDATE
We cannot let the right wing nuts get away with the Headgear Attacks.
He did a mistake, but as socialists, marxists and left wing nuts, we must defend the poor guy.
Here is my suggestion:
Remember when they attacked his middle name, HUSSEIN?
Then all Obama fans used his middle name (Bob "Hussein" Goodwin, Anita "Hussein" Anderson...).
Maybe all Obama supporters should use bike helmets all the time from now to november? To limit the damage...
