United Way of Central Iowa
At this time, we are asking that those interested in volunteering for the flood emergencies report IMMEDIATELY to the Volunteer Reception Center at United Way’s Human Services Campus, 1111 9th Street. The EOC has informed us that there is an immediate need for volunteers to begin sandbagging efforts due to the latest flood developments in our community.
We need Anderson Cooper to get out there.
Iowa's two largest cities Cedar Rapids and Des Moines are now critically damaged from
flooding. Iowa City will most likely flood this coming week.
The questions now being raised are :
- How much loss is being caused by the Iowa Guard being in Iraq.
http://www.iowaindependent.com/...
- what will this do corn prices and beef prices now and in the next 12 months.
- Bush as usual is out of DC partying with his right wing friends.
- Will Obama be in Iowa this week, to bring aid and comfort to the people.
Updates:a user noted in comments that The Obama campaign has sent their fellows in the region to help
sandbag, it's a hit to the campaign, but 50 Obama volunteers are in the recovery
efforts.

should go to Catholic Charities, Salvation army or the Des Moines or Cedar Rapids Red Cross.
Contributions to American Red Cross would most likely result in fund diversion
