Well not really, but I do apologize for my mistake.
Help me spread the word about how a supposedly pro-troop organization is just using that as an excuse to make money for themselves.
Today, I received am email to my gmail account (my primary email address) from Move America Forward. I receive campaign emails to that account by choice, but none are from Republican campaigns or causes (I have another email address for that – and GOP campaigns love to share their lists BTW).
The Move America Forward email came from someone named Joe Wierzbicki. What I found interesting is that the URL from his email was from rmrwest.com, the URL for Russo Marsh & Rogers - a Republican Party-associated public relations firm. That firm doesn’t hide the fact they work for MAF.
Read below to learn how MAF/RMR lines their own pockets under the guise of helping our troops.
So I was wondering how did Move America Forward get my email?
On the MAF email I noticed campaignstore.com as the vendor for the care packages. About a year-ago I managed a campaign where I inherited a hapless employee who was our campaign scheduler. I bought this person a book on campaign scheduling I found at campaignstore.com (where I gave them my email address to process the transaction). The book was not really a book at all, more like a pamphlet that cost me about $25 and was really worth more like 5 bucks.
I should have done my homework to see who the owner was: Ronald C. Rogers.
Through the magic of the Google I found out Ronald C. Rogers, is with Russo Marsh & Rogers.
From the MAF email:
"We just finished compiling our updated records of individuals who have taken direct action to support our military men and women and your name came up on that report."
TRANSLATION: "We just want to line our pockets and got your email from a company that just happens to be owned by a partner in the PR-firm I work for. Oh and you'll be buying the care packages through that same company."
Judging by the prices they are charging, these people are simply using our troops as an excuse to line their own pockets. Then again at this point their actions are hardly it’s hardly surprising, just pathetic.
The entire MAF email is below:
I wanted to say "THANK YOU" on behalf of everyone here at Move America Forward for the support you've given to our troops.
We just finished compiling our updated records of individuals who have taken direct action to support our military men and women and your name came up on that report.
As we approach the 4th of July holiday - celebrating America's Independence - all of us at MAF are acutely aware that America remains a free and safe nation because of the service and sacrifice of our military men and women.
Please know that we here at Move America Forward recognize the support you've given to our troops, and we are so very grateful that you've stood up for our troops! So you know how seriously we take this cause, we are once again working through this weekend, preparing care packages for what we hope will be the largest care package shipment to U.S. troops in history.
To keep on pace we need to find sponsorships for another $38,000 in care packages over the next 2 days. If you, or someone you know, could help sponsor an additional care package or two, it will be very helpful.
You can sponsor care packages here: http://www.thecampaignstore.com/...
Whether you can help or not, it doesn't change the fact that we are so thankful to you for the support you've given to us to date. It seems like it's a daunting challenge at times to have to battle back against the liberal media, radical anti-war activists in the street, who all seem to be helping to embolden America's enemies. But because people like you care, and step up to the plate and help... well that gives us the strength and energy to continue on with our work here at Move America Forward.
All the best to you this weekend!
- Joe Wierzbicki

P.S. Oh and here's a positive development. The Presidential Prayer Team has now endorsed our care package drive. There's a complete article about their support that you should read here: http://www.presidentialprayerteam.ne...
