On a day when Michelle Obama is stepping back into the spot-light, trying to undo all of the smears thrown at her, there is someone who won't have none of that. There's someone who wants the conversation to be about sound bytes and not policy. Sound byes and innuendo. On an interview to air tomorrow on ABC's Good Morning America, Cindy McCain says as follows from the Political Radar;
"I don't know why she said what she said," Mrs. McCain explains in an interview with ABC News' Kate Snow airing on "Good Morning America" Thursday. "Everyone has their own experience. I don't know why she said what she said, all I know is that I have always been proud of my country."
This is on the same day that Michelle Obama explained that whole thing in front of the world on the View. The same day that Mike Huckabee came out and said that it's a mistake to try to demonize someone(ya know, "thou shalt not bare false witness"). The First Lady, Laura Bush, who is a lady, spoke up for Michelle Obama.
Is Cindy McCain simply wishing away Michelle Obama's explanation, or is it really that tough for her to understand, let alone pretend to understand? Has she any shame? Everyone has their own experiences? Let's take a moment to recap; this isn't exactly the first time.
Then John McCain's reaction;
Of all the days to make the latest little snipes at Michelle Obama, Cindy McCain does it on the day that Michelle tries to reintroduce herself to the United States of America after enduring weeks of unfair attacks and smears. Indeed, Senator McCain agrees with Senator Obama that wives shouldn't be fair game. The Senator from Arizona replied to a inquiry by Dan Brody of CBN with the following;
Brody File contacted the McCain campaign for a response. Joe Pounder, McCain spokesman tells us the following:
"Senator McCain agrees with Senator Obama that spouses should not be an issue in this campaign, and he has stated that position frequently. Unfortunately, when the DNC was attacking Mrs. McCain, Senator Obama was not strong enough to stand up and speak out against the outrageous charges leveled at her by his party chair, Howard Dean. Obama's silence speaks volumes, and it's unfortunate that he would single out others for a standard he himself has failed to live up to."
Oh yes, because the questions about Cindy McCain are just as illegitimate as accusing a Senator's wife of lacking patriotism. No, I don't mean the questions in regards to Carol Shepp. At any rate, it seems to me that Cindy McCain likes being on the attack. This is the second time Cindy McCain has pounced on Michelle Obama when Senator McCain won't even touch it. I guess Cindy McCain doesn't like competition.
