First of all, this isn't a GBCW diary.
But today, I almost decided to leave for good.
I guess I didn't realize how many Chicken Little Asshats we have blogging here, people who are allegedly "serious" about getting Barack Obama elected.
Why don't you just join the Green Party? Or the Paultards? They'd probably be attracted to your tenuous grasp on reality.
He is AGAINST IMMUNITY. Read his statement again.
All of this fur is flying over NOTHING until it is all said and done.
Kossacks, I am sick and tired of this ridiculous emotionalism. It might make you feel good, but in your hearts, you know it helps no one.
And it certainly does not do justice to what Barack Obama said.
In the most crucial general election in modern history, Obama is our guy. For better or worse, he is. Have you seen anyone else out there who can do what he can do?
We won't find another one like him for a while, I promise you that.
But I can tell you who we won't find: someone who is perfect.
Someone who always does what we say. Someone who says "how high" when we ask them to jump.
Was I proud of Barack Obama today? No.
Was I proud of our leaders in Congress today? No.
But we can't afford our idealism if it lets us shoot ourselves in the foot like it did today.
Did we all forget that he has to win the White House first before we can judge his true intentions? You all act like this is the end for the fight against domestic spying. How naive.
We have serious problems, and we need serious people to solve them. That's it.
Barack Obama is the most serious person I have ever been alive to see about solving them. I challenge you to find anyone else since 1983.
If you can't handle that those serious people, those serious leaders, won't always do what you want them to do (or even the most right thing), then you really ought to look elsewhere, and stop harassing the people trying to elect serious people.
So if I want to give to the DCCC? I will. The DSCC? I will.
I will make up for your absence. I will help kill fewer soldiers, help preserve a few ice caps, and give millions of Americans and billions of people around the world a chance at a better life.
And you can just bitch and moan about the absence of the perfect when the very good is tapping us on the shoulder, telling us that we are the ones that we have been waiting for.
UPDATE: To all of you who think I'm unduly stepping on your outrage, I don't begrudge you for being frustrated, but I do begrudge you your lack of foresight in lashing out before we even know how it's all gonna shake out. The difference between campaign rhetoric and governing is vast.
