Now that the betrayal of the constitution and the rights of all Americans under the Fourth Amendment is nearly complete, we need to ask ourselves if there is anything that can be done to hold the Democratic Congress accountable and reverse this egregious violation of fundamental democratic principles. I think there is. We can, ourselves, take the FISA Repeal Pledge and ask our members of Congress to take a corresponding pledge. Details of the pledge on the other side.
Please recommend this diary so it stays alive if you think this effort is worth it.
Here is the Voter's FISA Repeal Pledge:
I, as a registered voter, pledge the following:
- I will not vote for, contribute money to, or perform volunteer work for any candidate for Congress, Senate or House, who voted FOR the current FISA legislation until such time as the that FISA legislation is repealed.
- I will not donate to the DNC, the DSCC, or the DCCC until the current FISA legislation is repealed.
- I will support, through contributions and/or volunteer work, any progressive primary challenger to an incumbent congressperson who voted FOR the current FISA legislation and is the representative of a normally Democratic voting district or state.
And here is the pledge for congresspersons to sign:
I, as a candidate for the House of Representatives or the Senate, do hereby pledge to sponsor, actively support, and vote FOR the repeal of the current FISA legislation. I understand that failure to keep this pledge renders me ineligible for financial or other support from the "netroots" or other progressive organizations.
It's up to you to get your Representative or Senator to see and sign this pledge.
