Well, maybe not.
There's a diary currently at the top of the rec list; it claims a war resolution is passing through Congress.
What is left out of the breathless rhetoric of that diary, is the fact that this resolution is a "Sense of Congress" resolution.
Here's the header from the bill itself:
Expressing the sense of Congress regarding the threat posed to international peace
Sense of Congress resolutions are just PR, they're not law.
Although "sense of" resolutions have no force in law, foreign governments pay close attention to them as evidence of shifts in U.S. foreign policy priorities.
Finally, no matter how momentous or threatening the language used in "sense of" resolutions may be, remember that they are merely a political tactic and create no laws, whatsoever.
So, this bill is just like the Kyl-Lieberman amendment. Kyl-Lieberman didn't start a war and neither will this. It's a saber-rattling, propaganda stunt.
[Author's note: I didn't approve of Kyl-Lieberman and I don't approve of this POS resolution, either]
