It had to happen sooner or later.
In spite of John McCain being a technological Luddite with no apparent computer skills, the McCain Camp had to prove conclusively that their guy is hip and fully in tune with the American mainstream and pop culture.
What better way than to invoke the image of a movie character that many Americans are familiar with. So... they compared Barack Obama to 'Dr. No' of the James Bond movies.
Does Obama welcome this comparison? It isn't as if Obama doesn't have the flair for the dramatic, as he demonstrated prior to the Texas Primacaucus. He's an 'Urban Cowboy' himself!

Bill Burton, the National Press Secretary for the Obama campaign, released the following statement a few minutes ago
From Chicago With Love
Senator Obama was flattered and honored to be compared to a character in one of the legendary James Bond movies. However, as far as this election goes, Senator Obama is keenly aware of the challenges ahead of him and he, better than Senator McCain, knows that this thunderball of an election is about real choices.
The American people have seen their economic fortunes decline in recent years and had the living daylights scared out of them by this administration, whose discredited policies Senator McCain backs. While we only live once, it is essential that we make the most of our time on this earth.
To quote Senator Obama from a recent policy speech, "Tomorrow never dies."
Senator McCain was unavailable for comment. A spokesman said that McCain was on travel but added that it was important for the American people to understand that "Senator McCain is the man with the golden pun."
So, what's your favorite James Bond movie? And which character(s) captured your imagination and left a lasting impression upon you?
