Listening to NPR this morning, I heard a piece on the opinions of supposed "independent" voters who were allegedly Clinton supporters.
What a crock.
They actually interviewed a guy that said "Osama/Obama, it's only one letter difference", "he was raised muslim", and "his middle name is 'Hussein'"... acting as if this is a truly independent Hillary supporter that wasn't going to support Obama in the general election.
This was no independent voter. This was a right wing troglodyte, demonstrating that sometimes Independence is sometimes nothing more than rank ignorance and prejudice.
Not wanting to let this sit, I have penned the following to NPR:
"Absolutely APPALLING that the best "independent" voter you can find to discuss their electoral preferences is a gentleman that deliberately conflates "osama" and "obama" and says "it's just one letter" , repeats the lie that he was raised muslim, and then mentions the fact that his middle name is "Hussein" as his reasons for not supporting him.
This is NOT an "independent" voter. This is a MORON, repeating right wing talk radio points as gospel.
This is NOT insightful analysis into the thinking of independent voters and you do a disservice to your listeners to present it as such.
Thank You"
I hope others do the same.
