I was just watching CNN and heard some Hillary supporters in New Hampshire formed a democratic group to vote for McCain. Are they serious? It sounds like they want to cut off their nose to spite their face! I can understand being upset if your candidate didn't get the nomination, but to switch parties seems completely absurd.
I'm still not completely convinced that idea isn't just a Rethuglican conspiracy to make some Hillary supporters think there's actually such a movement. Who knows with all the spin these days eh? I watch the news quite a bit, but it doesn't take long for me to tire of the talking heads, whether for or against my beliefs.
I just know that it would be completely idiotic for me to believe McCain is different from Bush. Yea right! I mean, I once had some respect for him because of his military experience yadi yadi yadi, but really, that was when I didn't know much about politics anyway. I voted for Bush the first time because I was young, dumb and full of c...er thought he was a great guy. However, it didn't take long to see how much of an arrogant idiot he turned out to be.
No, I just look at the fundamental differences the repugnicans have with democrats and I know I would have voted for Hillary had she won. And, actually, I started out as a Hillary supporter, I just got tired of the negative campaign. But to any democrat who would vote for McCain instead of Obama, simply because Your candidate didn't win the nomination, I've just got to say...
GROW UP!!!
This election is too damn important for such pettiness. Nothing McCain can say or smear will convince me to vote for him. This country needs a change for many reasons...foreign relations, the economy, healthcare, immigration reform, mortgage reform, an energy policy/environmental issues, the deficit, and THE FUCKING WAR!!!
Sorry to get nasty on that last, but I'm really heavily invested when it comes to that. There are a lot of issues that we need to work on, so does it make any sense to put another republican president in the white house to veto congressional legislation??? Duh, no.
Get over it. Hillary got close, but didn't get it. Blame whomever, who cares, but if she can vouch for him, you should too, it's for your own good.
Back to the war. It's the number ONE issue of this campaign in my opinion. Don't forget this stupid (Iraq) war is the cause of many of our problems. Even if you want to argue it was just, IT'S TIME TO LEAVE!
It's costing us far too much. Let the Iraqis sort it out because it Will take 100 years to teach the average Iraqi the values most average Americans take for granted, like a good work ethic, helping others, letting others live the life they want, freedom of religion, etc etc.
The war is putting a major strain on our military. People who can get out ARE getting out! Others want to but have to stay in because of the backdoor draft (stoploss). Equipment is getting worn out. Moral sucks. Really, it does. The only military people who Want to go to Iraq are doing it for money or for glory/promotion. 9/10 can't wait until it's over.
Furthermore, you may hear about the deaths, but I see the casualties, every freaking day. New casualties, every freaking day. More soldiers, every day, who are disfigured for life, who will never lead normal lives. Our medical care is so good now that a lot of these guys retain their limbs for 1-2 years after the injury, but eventually end up losing them. Sure, we can save a guys foot, but if they can't use the muscles or even feel it, what's the point??? It's dead and completely useless. They'll never walk normally again let alone run. More and more are choosing to have an elective amputation because a prosthetic is better than a dead limb.
It just makes me sick to think anybody would vote for a man most likely to continue this war for as long as it takes. Some things are going to take time regardless of who wins in November. The world isn't going to start respecting us overnight. Gas prices aren't going to drop with cheap fixes. American's aren't going to keep their jobs as long as we pander to the rich.
We need real change and we need it now! Do a gut check and vote for the party, not for pettiness.
