A lot of work went into last week's diary, and it only got 15 comments. I guess I posted it in the middle of the whole purity troll outbreak.
I'll have another story next week. In the meanwhile, I have some pictures that don't really have stories behind them, but are still too good not to post.
Like this one, a painted bunting that visits every summer to eat at the millet feeder.

This albino mockingbird showed up in our yard one day. We haven't seen him at all since then.
Loggerhead shrike. Shrikes are as aggressive hunters as small hawks. They will impale insects, lizards, or even mice on thorns or barbed wire to save them for later.
Downy Woodpecker
Ladderbacked Woodpecker
Woodpeckers are easy to attract: put out a peanut feeder filled with raw, unsalted peanuts.
Baltimore Oriole. They will come to fruit feeders, which is basically just orange halves nailed to a post or a board.
Please share bird (or any critter) stories or pictures that you have.
