Hello, Daily Kos!
Today is the last day of the quarter, and as you can imagine, things are hectic in the office here in Norwalk as we work to beat the 2nd quarter FEC deadline at midnight tonight.
But I wanted to make sure to take a few minutes today to thank the Daily Kos community so much for your support this quarter. Over 430 of you have contributed to our campaign through the Orange to Blue ActBlue page. All of us here at the campaign have been energized by your support, and you should know that your enthusiasm online has been matched on the ground in Connecticut.
Just this Saturday, over 100 supporters joined me in a 22-mile walk across the Fourth Congressional District, from Greenwich to Bridgeport. Together we physically demonstrated the type of new direction we all want to see come January 2009 - with President Obama in the White House and more progressive Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress.
You know how badly our country needs a new direction on so many issues: on the war in Iraq, on our foreign policy, on fighting for the rule of law and our constitution, on the economy, energy, healthcare, and so much more. One supporter who couldn't participate in the walk might have put it best when he emailed us the "new direction" he wanted to see, telling us, "I want a President and a Congress that will help America get its 'mojo' back!"
That's why I am running. I am honored to have so many of you on my side in this campaign, and I'll be just honored to have you by my side in the significant fights that lie ahead.
I don't have too much time right now (have to get back on the phones, and we're still working to reach our goal of $22,000 raised online by midnight), but I'll be around to answer questions in the comments for about 20 minutes.
Thanks again,
Jim
