Wonkette summedup Jonah Goldberg's column today in LATimes as a "paean to the God of shit" and that pretty much sums it up.
Here's how the column starts:
There's a weird irony at work when Sen. Barack Obama, the black presidential candidate who will allegedly scrub the stain of racism from the nation, vows to run afoul of the constitutional amendment that abolished slavery.
And I honestly can't claim that the column gets any better from there on.
Mr Goldberg claims that because Obama's plan for college loans comes with "strings attached", it constitutes "involuntary servitude".
Go figure!
This is dumb enough but it goes further.. much further..
Bashing the "cult of the JFK" and the mantra of "Ask not what your country can do for you ...", which is apparently a bad thing, the author of "liberal fascism" shocking lashes out at all those "idealistic hipsters" and "Devotees of Rolling Stone and MTV", who think that government should stay out of our bedrooms.
Is you brain hurting as much as mine? I wish the thing ended there but wait.. there's more.
After going through the motions of the usual "Right" stuff (of how American are great except for those pesky big government liberals who are going to ruin it), in a stunning stretch, Goldberg calls the same Obama college program, the one that he just called "slavery", a welfare program. I guess Mr. Goldberg can not be bothered by the fact that slavery and welfare are diametrically opposed to each other.
Well what do you expect from the guy who coined the phrase "Liberal Fascism" ?
