See, I knew this guy was just like all the rest. I mean, I was inspired because he was, you know, gonna be our first non-white President. Who was also a constitutional scholar. And a community activist. Who opposed the Iraq war. And favors universal healthcare. And can talk about race honestly. And can talk about religion honestly. And can deliver stunning feats of oratory not seen since FDR, maybe Lincoln (and with an honorable mention to post-VP Al Gore). But none of those are true any more.
Today, Barack Obama is no longer black.
The guy single-handedly destroyed the 4th amendment with one vote out of 100. The FISA vote effectively destroys everything I've ever liked or found inspiring about the guy:
- being the first Presidential nominee of color
- being the son of an immigrant
- being the first African-American President of the Harvard Law Journal
- being a Community Organizer on the South Side of Chicago
- being a Constitutional scholar
- speaking out against the Iraq war
- speaking out against rushing to war with Iran
- speaking out against corporate influence
- promoting transparent government
As of today, none of those are true. All that stuff he wrote in his books? FISA went back in time and erased them all.
I'm taking down my yard sign and burning it. I'm gonna toss my button in the river. I'm gonna turn my T-Shirt into a rag. I'm gonna spend all my campaign donations on meth and mint schnapps. Because I don't care anymore. Obama has lost me. He's just like any other politician, EVER.
