This morning, while trying to post a photo on another diary, I was reintroduced to the pathetic little group that is PUMA.
What piqued my interest was a little blurb on their page of outrage that said they were trying to collect money to send buses to Denver for the Convention:
DENVER! We are coordinating our efforts with 18Millionvoices, the group that has been working on Denver for weeks now. We want to reach out and share whatever we can so that efforts are not duplicated and we get the biggest number of Puma PAC members to Denver as is humanly possible. Events will be starting on August 24th, including protest rallies and marches.
PUMA members whine and cry about how they are really Democrats, they just want to change the party for the better. Oh really??? Let's take a few tasty morsels of logic from the PUMA site and their fellow attention seeking allies:
From the Nobama Network, a coalition of groups who's stated mission is to keep Obama from obtaining the presidency..basically a McCain for President group:
They also wasted no time in placing the New Yorker cover front and center.
This little cooking group has a slightly elevated impression of themselves. From PUMA:
The Puma movement and Puma PAC is now bigger than either Hillary Clinton OR Barack Obama.
The above quote may explain some of their rather more bizarre and random numbers thrown out as accomplishments of members...40,000 emails here!! 20,000 there...shutting down phone systems!! And no specifics. Just exclamation points and the most intensive and extensive requests for funds that I've ever seen on a website.
While continuing to talk about the fact that they ARE Democrats you will not find one link on their recommended roll to one positive or mainstream Democratic website. Though "No Quarter" is in there..which says much.
Possibly the most ironic statement to appear on the entire PUMA website is this little missive, written in a diary regarding how to woo over Obama supporters:
We ARE uniters. We ARE healers of bruised relationships and hurt feelings. We DO know how to make people feel welcome and to move on.
I would suggest that no, they do not know how to "heal" and they do not know how to "move on". The fact that this Pro-McCain group is going to attend the Democratic Convention, in whatever pathetic numbers they can muster, and stomp around insisting that they have a voice should be unacceptable to us all.
Heck, even Lieberman knows better than to try that stuff. Unfortunately, all it takes is a few loud and non-sensical voices to create an opportunity for a media "event". We can minimize these GOP infilitrators if we stay consistent.
Our message to the media should be "These are not democrats, they are McCain supporters". They should be given no credibility, no recognition, and no access.
If you see this "army" remember they obviously can't count, don't count for much, and tell them to get their rear ends to Minnesota.
