---UPDATE--- (per turneresq's suggestion)
US Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama has arrived in Afghanistan, at the start of a campaign-season international tour.
Mr Obama flew to Kabul as part of a US congressional team. He is expected to meet Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
He is later expected to visit Iraq, Jordan, Israel, Germany, France and Britain.

What do you all think? I'd personally like to see this trip used as a way to for Sen. Obama to 1) address the failure of Bush/McSame to keep their eyes on the ball by engaging in a fool's errand in Iraq, while de-emphasizing Afghanistan 2) bring Afghanistan into the debate more generally 3) shed light on his own position vis-a-vis Pakistan. I also wonder what visiting Afghanistan first represents in the long run (presuming that he will also visit Iraq).
Personally, I believe that "just war" is not merely an invention of political philosophers, and that once upon a time the war in Afghanistan could have been prosecuted as such. Whether it still can be is difficult to tell, but I know that I'd much rather have our candidate make the case for his national security credentials (TM) in response to the Afghanistan situation (a truly failed state even before our arrival) than in the context of Iraq (a state whose people we failed). Thoughts?
