As a sign of Democratic enthusiasm in the MO-09 district Judy Baker was the #1 U.S. House candidate in the nation and the #3 overall candidate (behind Senate candidates Noriega and Hagan) on ActBlue this past week. Two MO-09 candidates actually made the ActBlue top 10 as one of her three Democratic primary opponents (Gaw) also finished #9 in the ActBlue top ten.

This is a seat that has been red for a number of years but the Democratic enthusiasm, especially for Judy Baker, this year has been very high.
This race has been listed as Lean Republican or Likely Republican in most of the house race handicappers, but both Judy Baker and Steve Gaw are likely to be outraising Republican frontrunner Bob Onder who reported 89K for the 2Q. Baker and Gaw have not yet released their numbers which are due on Thursday but Baker has raised nearly 100K on ActBlue alone and Gaw has raised a little over 40K on ActBlue.
Judy Baker is a progressive candidate who is very electable even given the district's red leanings. Since 2002 four statewide candidates have won in the 9th district and they are Susan Montee, Robin Carnahan, Jay Nixon and Claire McCaskill so the district is winnable with the right candidate!
