I read a diary post a few hours ago, describing and praising Obama's 83 years old, great uncle, Charles Payne;

....for his service in WWII, his listening, despite the language barrier, to a just liberated prisoner, from a Nazi work (death) camp. Much deserved praise for Mr. Payne and his WWII service, much posted condemnation of WWII Nazi...and all violent oppression of innocents....but...
...does it end there? Where is the follow up, the curiousity as to how it could happen, how can it be prevented from happening again.
My three most recent DKOS diary posts, tried to describe and address some parts of the "disconnect"...
My question is, if there is so much outrage still lingering over what the Nazis did, why then, as my most recent prior diary post illustrates...were the two choices for California governor, in the 2003 recall, two candidates with "Nazis in the family closet", and why have the US electorate, in five of the last seven presidential elections since 1980, elected a father and son, five times....to either the office of president or VP of the United States, when there is compelling documentation that they are from a family that, on both maternal and paternal sides, financed the Nazi WWII war machine?
Why was only the most obvious "Nazi linked" candidate of these four, the one born in post WWII Austria, even publicly questioned about his family's Nazi links?
The Nazi crimes of aggressive war, and depraved crimes against humanity, speak for themselves. Shouldn't any candidate for state or federal executive office, at least, want and be required to explain and denounce the complicity of their fathers and grandfathers in supporting the Nazi regime of Hitler's Germany, before we can or should vote them into high office in our country?
Could one of the reasons that our current president has had the opportunity to commit acts some describe as crimes of aggressive war, and torture, because we, the electorate never made explaining and denouncing what their family members did, a condition of receiving our political support.
....and....why, more than half a century after WWII, are there so many descendants of Nazi supporters....our fellow Americans, seeking and achieving high office. Could it be because there has been no curiousity about their family backgrounds, and what these candidates' reactions to these backgrounds, are?
