Previously, I wrote about the benefits of Obama in announcing that he'd probably keep Gates. there's a reason for that. We all know Chuck Hagel secretly admires Barack Obama. Everyone knows that Colin Powell is feeling torn between his long-time friend and this aspiring figure on the rise. Former Lt. Gen. Brent Scowcraft? Huh, who's that? These three men are all realists who represent a weakened wing of Republican foreign policy- the moderate one.
Make no mistake about it, John McCain has been a neo-conservative for awhile. He was ranting about the need to withdraw troops from Somalia(where elements of Al-Qaeda were) to focus international attention on Saddam Hussein's resurgent WMD program.(or not) He's not part of the realist-wing of the Republican Party's school of foreign policy. He's simply not. He's dangerous as his temperment has shown this week. That may be why some big-name Republicans like Scowcroft have stayed neutral during this election.(so far)
Haven't you been wondering when Senator Chuck Hagel would just come right out and say it? Well, there may be a reason for that. Just ask Halperin over at "the Page" of Time.com. Halperin is well-connected, and it could explain why Chuck Hagel hasn't endorsed Barack Obama. Wouldn't it be great timing for this to happen right after this game-changing trip abroad?(or is it McCain's game-changing gaffes and attacks?) I believe Senator Obama has survived his hardest challenge; his visit to Israel. Some gaffes, but all of that is over-shadowed by Senator McCain and his campaign's recent statements.
So when Barack Obama returns to the United States of America, how should he spend his Monday? And why does Mark Halperin think there is a real chance for some big-name ship-jumpers? The answers.
