This morning approximately 110 people lined up outside Rayburn 2141 hoping to get into the hearing. We were initially told that there were 40 seats available to the public, but ultimately only SIXTEEN people were allowed inside. There were two overflow rooms, both of which were rendered standing room only as staffers and interns also attended in force. There has been one hallway arrest so far. Here are Laurie Arbeiter from World Can't Wait and Jenny Heinz of CodePink, who both came down from NYC to attend the hearing.
Sue Serpa from Republicans for Impeachment and Desiree from CodePink.
Contingent from New York City.
CodePink got all dressed up for you Mr. Conyers!
Veterans for Peace have been a constant, ferocious presence, to be commended for their persistent, impassioned and well-informed lobbying of John Conyers and the Judiciary.
Tiz moi. Yes, that is a Cisco T-shirt. I'm such a wiseass.
The long, long line!
Cindy Sheehan is the first in line.
The second overflow room - the first was about twice this size and standing room only.
Several times Rep. Conyers has had to ask the audience not to react (with applause). More pictures are coming...
These next pictures were taken from inside the hearing room. I am being told that I was visible on CSPAN over Dennis Kucinich's right shoulder while he was being questioned.
Nice shot of Rep. Robert Wexler speaking.
My "hi mom" moment... I've got Dennis's back!
The watchful eyes of CodePink are upon you...
End of the hearing. Col (ret) Ann Wright visible on the right.
Former Congresswoman Liz Holzman.
