By now, it seems that most people here are aware of the new, disgusting ad that the McCain camp has put out, criticizing Senator Obama for not visiting our troops in Germany.
We can only expect more tactics like such during the coming months. There are a few things that we can all do to help the Obama campaign in the runup to the elction. Here are a few, simple things that I have done or tend to do. I tried to make the tips short and to the point. Feel free to ask questions.
- Donate Donate Donate Donate
Without the funds, the Obama campaign cannot get his message out and fight the smears.
- Buy Obama Merchandise
I recently read a great idea here on the boards. When you buy merchandise, it counts as a campaign contribution. Let's say you want to donate $50. Buy 3 Obama hats ($15 each). Wear it and if friends, Obama supporters ask where they can get one, tell them to make a $15-$20 contribution for the campaign for one of yours. That way, the campaign gets more money ($30 for a hat) and friends don't have to wait weeks for the hat.
- Free Obama Button
Get and wear your own free Obama button. moveon.org is giving out free ones.
- Neighbor to Neighbor Online Tool
The website makes you able to locate undecided voters in your neighbohood so you can talk to them about the campaign. With this tool, you get a map, a flyer, and script.
- Write Letters To Newspapers
The Obama website will send your letters to newspapers around the country. Just type in your zipcode and a list of local/state newspapers with pop up. Write/paste your letter in the box along with your name, address, contact information, and the website will send itto all newspapers tat you select. I had a letter published in the Indy Star the oher week using this tool. It saves a lot of time from going to the different newspaper websites.
