Brown trounced an incumbent (Mike DeWine) in Ohio running as a progressive populist. He voted against giving Bush authority to invade Iraq and is best known as opposing insane trade deals.
Brown is telegenic and has a gravelly Charlie Rangel voice. He'd be a good campaigner and would be the perfect nominee to run for president in eight years.
It's disheartening to me to hear that Senator Evan Bayh-IN and Gov. Tim Kaine-Va. are top contenders as reported by the media. Bayh is a DLCer and Tim Kaine is a triangulator.
Now is the time for progressives to try to influence the Obama campaign to embrace the Zeitgeist.
I started a "Sherrod Brown for V.P." group at Obama's website and I welcome others to join the group. I hope this url gets you there:

Air America Host Thom Hartmann and progressive author/blogger/columnist/thinker David Sirota have both said that there is no better person for the job.
Just imagine Sherrod Brown in the V.P. debate with someone like Mitt Romney who made zillions buying companies and shipping jobs overseas. Brown's economic populism is the way to break-up the conservative coalition and restore the Founders' origninal vison for the U.S.
