This is very brief, but head over to Think Progress and read this story.

"Interviewing Hersh during the journalism conference event, I asked him specifically about this meeting and if he could elaborate on what occurred. Hersh explained that, during the meeting in Cheney’s office, an idea was considered to dress up Navy Seals as Iranians, put them on fake Iranian speedboats, and shoot at them. This idea, intended to provoke an Iran war, was ultimately rejected:
HERSH: There was a dozen ideas proffered about how to trigger a war. The one that interested me the most was why don’t we build — we in our shipyard — build four or five boats that look like Iranian PT boats. Put Navy seals on them with a lot of arms. And next time one of our boats goes to the Straits of Hormuz, start a shoot-up."
Rejected or not, this kind of thinking is treasonous. Further, it is a window into the depth of Cheney's (et. al.) sociopathic disregard for humanity and the American Soldier.
UPDATE: Thx, Highfive. I updated the title.
UPDATE 2: The thing is— the thing that breaks my heart every moment of every day is that crimes are perpetually being committed by this Administration, and directly by George W. Bush, and Dick Cheney. These crimes and the attempt at perpetuating criminal policy are literally gutting the sovereignty and global integrity of our Constitution as well as the very nation it presides over.
These are crimes of war and treason. These are threats domestic, and are sworn against by every single elected official. To universally break this oath by pandering and slouching before the duties at hand is a direct threat to our national security and must be rectified, examined, and resolved if we are ever to even approach the level of sovereignty we had pre-2000.
Update 3: I added a question mark "?" to the title because the story is an allegation. However, I believe it to be credible. It is a fair argument at this point of the story that one should keep his or her skepticism; thus, the "?"
