What happened 50 minutes ago was distressing to say the least.

I walked upstairs to fill my drink, and it was about 10:20 or so, and immediately I heard a voice from a loudspeaker on a truck.

It was saying, "Trucks are now spraying chemicals to eliminate West Nile Virus.  Please go inside immediately until the trucks are past your area."

That's a paraphrase but I'm reporting it as factually as possible.

I know about the Giuliani sprayings from crop-dusters over Manhattan, and I wasn't surprised that Bloomberg was doing it in 2008.

So I ran all over the house closing the windows as fast as I could.

When I got upstairs, I saw a single silly truck belching a vapor from a spigot from the bed that blew out like some fire place bellows.

Surreal would be the word for that.

Now my Weber sits in their pesticide.

After the previously banned in New York "DEET" has been added to our "Off."

Now we eat Anvil where we never had to before.

And they've been terrorizing us with West Nile since, oh, about 1998 I think.

Dear God, when will the good people of New York, who live in centralized societies and really never do anybody any harm, catch a goddamn break.

I'll accept West Nile.

I'll even accept it if I have to lose a family member.

Just please stop spraying my family and my garden with your fucking poisons, Bloomberg.

You think they spray that bastard?

No.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
