After seeing John McCain blather to CNN's John King yesterday about how he's "saddened" about the so-called race card being played, I had to take a brief moment to compose myself and pick-up my shattered remote control.
To hear John McCain take the high road on fear mongering is laughable. I guess the MSM has a short memory and already has forgotten a certain McCain campaign event in Cincinnati back in February. At this event, Cincinnati radio talk show host Bill Cunningham introduced John McCain with a vitriolic verbal assult on Barack Obama. Most notably on that "funny" name of his. See video below.
If you watch the full, uncut video, you'll notice how Cunningham makes mention of McCain being prematurely introduced as "The next President of the United States"? How arrogant? lol.
Also disturbing was what VP hopeful and current Ohio Rep. Rob Portman had to say after embracing Cunningham and grabbing the mic.
As Cunningham finished, Portman, who is mentioned as a possible vice presidential candidate, took the microphone to introduce McCain.
"Willie, you're out of control again. So, what else is new? But we love him," Portman said. "But I've got to tell you, Bill Cunningham lending his voice to this campaign is extremely important. He did it in 2000, he did it in 2004. It was crucial to victory then and it's even more important this year with his bigger radio audience. So, Bill Cunningham, thank you for lending your voice."
So what kind of "voice" is Portman talking about? Did that "voice" come from the bottom of the deck? I guess we'll have to wait and see what Americans have to think.
At the time, McCain denied ever hearing Cunningham's comments and repudiated them after doing so. Hearing aide jokes aside, he seemed to skate by on it even though Portman's comments were almost as disturbing and uncovered by the MSM.
As far as the "race card" goes, David Ballavia introduced McCain at a pro-war campaign event back in April and stated:
"You can have your Tiger Woods, we've got Senator McCain."
Interesting to note from the video above, McCain heard Ballavia's intro and came on stage to hug him and thank him. As Keith points out, McCain had "utterly no reaction to the reference". Sounds like a sensitive dude to me.
