Last week, John Culberson attacked me, claiming I was trying to use my personal wealth to buy the election.

Of course, what Culberson didn’t point out is that my broad base of supporters included more than 1,000 contributors last quarter compared to Culberson’s 350 contributors. Our campaign has always been a grassroots effort - 99% of our contributions to date have come from individuals.

I need your help to prove that our campaign is truly powered by the grassroots support of people like you.

We need to send a strong message, to the mainstream media, to Culberson, to the people of Houston, that our campaign is fueled by grassroots support from people who are tired of the same old politics in Washington, and recognize my ability to bring about real change.

Today we’re doing a "Money Bomb" to prove that our campaign is fueled by grassroots excitement.  Incredibly, as of 3:00 CT today, we’ve already raised almost $25,000 from more than 130 contributors!!!

Now, we’re trying to send the strongest message we can.  If everyone who has given can get two friends to give as well, we’ll have more individual donors today than Culberson had all last quarter!

We really need your help!  Please send a $5 contribution and ask everyone you know to do the same.

You can contribute at my website or through Act Blue.

Thank you for all of your support.  We couldn’t do any of this without you.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

First of all, thanks for running against John Cuberson, and thanks for your great work on wind power.

I'd like to know whether you're aware of the June 24, 2008 resolution adopted by the U.S. Conference of Mayors calling on Congress to work towards the immediate enactment of H.R. 676? And if elected to Congress, do you plan to add your name to the list of 91 distinguished co-sponsors?

I'd also like to know your position on nuclear power.

If Culberson were more famous, he would be infamous.  He has tried time and again to block mass transit - collaborating in this effort with Tom DeLay.

I don't know why Culberson is so determined to force his maid and landscapers to drive so far to work.

I don't live in Skelley's district, but in an adjacent one.  I'm going to chip in ten bucks.

I've given up hope that Nick Lampson will win in my district, TX-22.  His outreach and constituent service are totally lame.  I'll vote for him, since I'm a yellow-dog Democrat.  Lampson is pretty yellow, but at least he hasn't tried to hump my leg.
