Well, it's Saturday morning which means it's once again time to discuss the most important things on Earth. Topping the list - Obama's Campaign Song!
For those of you familiar with the topic, we had a great time last week discussing our opinions about which song best epitomizes the Obama campaign. If you'd like to revisit those comments, you can check it out here.
As with any good populist diary, a fascinating poll was included. 90 wonderful, good-looking, noble Kossacks voted in that poll and I want to personally thank each and every one of you. You are the salt of the earth. But folks, we can do so much better!
This week, I'd like those of you who are having fun sharing songs and ideas to spread this diary around so that Kossack Nation is more completely represented, and so we can definitively offer our undoubtedly desired opinion on what his Obama-ness should choose for his campaign song. To find out the results and vote in this week's poll, grab a 'chute and jump into the great blue beyond the break!!!
One of my favorite parts of last week's discussion were the most excellent suggestions of so many Kossacks for songs that weren't on the original list. Therefore, to include more of those suggestions, I'm going to take the top three songs from each week's poll (last week's top three were Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come," Will.I.Am's "Yes We Can," and Wild Cherry's "Play That Funky Music (White Boy)") and then sprinkle in some of the best suggestions from your comments.
The ultra-scientific criteria for being included in the category of "best suggestions from your comments" are as follows:
1.) The song made me _____. (cry, laugh, tap my toe, dance, listen again)
2.) The song embodied (in some way) the themes of Hope, Change, or "a better world."
To help familiarize folks with the songs, I'll be posting links to You Tube videos of the selections in the comments section.
Another one of my favorite parts of last week's comments were the clever ideas for Grampy McSame's campaign song. Since I'm blogly challenged and don't know how to offer more than one poll per diary, I'm going to simply list some of the best ideas from last week's comments and encourage you to keep sending them in.
Top McCain Campaign Songs (From Last Week):
1.) Yakkity, Yak
2.) Wake me up before you go (go).
3.) Barbara Ann
Thanks for the fun times last week. Let's keep 'em rolling! Vote, discuss, and keep rocking the free world, Kossacks!!!
