A transplanted Midwesterner puts down roots in Alabama and helps show how "loyal Bushies" have corrupted our justice system.
According to an editorial in today's Birmingham News, the Bush Justice Department has been doing "favors" for Don Siegelman, former Democratic governor of Alabama:
Don Siegelman Must Have Spewed When He Read This
How could we progressives have missed this story?
My gosh, the loyal Bushies who control the Justice Department put Siegelman through two bogus trials, they cost him tens of thousands of dollars, they put him in federal prison for nine months, they put his family through untold anguish . . .
Why did we not grasp all of these "favors" the Bush Justice Department was handing out?
And it wasn't just Don Siegelman receiving "favors." Paul Minor and his codefendants in Mississippi (who remain in federal prison). Cyril Wecht in Pennsylvania. Georgia Thompson in Wisconsin. David Iglesias and the other (Repupblican) U.S. attorneys who were fired . . .
They've all been the recipients of "favors." Who knew?
Here in Alabama, Huntsville defense contractor Alex Latifi saw his prosperous company ruined by a bogus investigation led by Bush appointee Alice Martin. Bet Latifi didn't even realize the "favors" being done for him.
And what about Republican whistleblower Jill Simpson? She's seen her house burn down, her car run off the road, and her law practice damaged. Is she grateful for those "favors?"
And I'm just as clueless as Latifi and Simpson. My house has been "auctioned," and I've been fired from my job, all directed by people with ties to the Bush administration. But here I sat, not realizing all the "favors" I was being given. How thoughtless could I be?
When are we progressives going to realize all the blessings we've received from the Bush DOJ? What an ungrateful bunch are we?
