We've been tremendously blessed, so to say, that we have had the field of Democrats that we did. And even though my guys (Kucinich and Edwards) didn't win, I'll be happy to vote for Barack Obama in the general election.
But there are some angry voters who have stated their intent to vote for or seriously consider John McCain, and I see this as not only a slap to the Democratic Party, or the Progressive movement, but a slap in the face of many very real people.
The simple fact of the matter is is that both McCain and the Republican party believe in putting the rich above the poor, evangelical Christians above non-evangelical Christians, straight people above gay people, and sometimes yes whites above other races.
What these angry voters are telling these people is because my person did not win, I'll vote against you too, and all these people so I can make a stupid point.
Now, I don't mean that because they aren't voting Democrat that they are automatically doing this, but because they are voting for a right-wing terror machine.
One could simply vote for the Green Party, and by extension they would be voting with these people on the ideas, even though they would be voting against the Democratic Party. I know some people disagree with this, but those who vote Green (or Social Democrats) are voting with us on Progressive ideals.
But the immaturity and complete disregard for other people is the sickening part. Because of their own selfishness, they will be voting for a right-wing machine that stands against anything a Progressive, anything a centrist believes in. Because of their own selfishness they will be voting against homosexuals, against non-evangelical Christians, against racial and ethnic minorities, and against the poor and middle class.
Being frustrated with the Democratic Party and voting Green is one thing, but being frustrated with the party and voting for McCain is something different altogether.
