(OK, let's try the "Late night cable TV ad" version of this pitch.)
That's right, friends! If you stop by in the next 27 hours or so, you can find a GREAT DEAL on a print by Kossacks dadanation or Eddie C! And your GREAT DEAL can lead to a GREAT "DE-AL" -- "Delaware-At Large" member of the House of Representatives* -- which makes it a GREAT DEAL for us all!
That's right -- as described here, you can go to this diary on NION which will lead you to a set of eight gorgeous photos (reproduced below) on which you can bid! Do you like the photos in Cheers and Jeers? Garden blogging? Our regular DKos photoblogs? Then you can get your own copy of a great photo by dadanation or Eddie C! And we'll even throw in the opportunity to change Congress!
MORE BELOW!!!!!
<dignity>
For 4 evenings, we're raising money on DailyKos for Jerry Northington, or possum, who is running for Delaware's at-large seat in the House of Representatives. Possum's primary is this September. Possum is a Vietnam Vet and veterinarian who will provide our caucus with one more, and a much better, Democrat!

SPECIAL NOTICE! For a limited time only, you can help us set the prices of eight additional prints that can will given away for the asking as premiums for donations to Jerry's campaign. This offer not available in stores! To give us your help in setting the premiums to be used for these photos, just travel to yesterday's diary and put in a comment about what you think the "base price" of each photo listed there should be! What we do here may serve as a template for future campaigns, so you're not just helping Jerry, you're helping the netroots in general!
Remember, we are throwing in the chance to elect a representative with a sane energy policy, a sane foreign policy, and pretty much a sane everything policy! This can be yours -- and ours! -- but you have to ACT NOW!
Now, it's ON TO THE AUCTIONS!
(1) The auctions
First: a huge shout out of thanks to the people at NION for making this possible by donating the use of their site for this purpose. You will need to set up an account there to bid -- a painless process -- and you'll find some nice things to read when you do.
See my introductory diary from yesterday for more background about what's going on. See the main auction diary at NION for auction rules and procedures. Auctions end promptly at 7:30 p.m. PDT/10:30 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, August 7.
We're auctioning off the eight photos graciously donated by dadanation and Eddie C. That means that only one copy apiece will be sent out! These are in short supply, in other words, so bid accordingly! There are individual links included on the main NION diary, but I also include individual links to them in each picture's title below.
Photos from dadanation
(Note: all three prints will be 10" x 7.5")
Auction 1: Looking Out Looking Out
This is a lovely, moody, classy shot.
Auction 2: Phaius on a Rainy Day
This is a bright, beautiful study in contrasting textures, colors, and moods.
Auction 3: Lisle's Phaleanopsis with 2 bloom stalks [corrected title]
A serene still life and a study in contrasting tones.
Photos from Eddie C.
(Note: Eddie C. gave me a choice among eighteen photos; I could not include more than five and left out some absolute wonders. Note that these will be printed using a process that offers "museum quality prints"; hence the higher minimums for these photos. You may choose a size from 16x20 down (in proportion) to 8x10.)
Auction 4: Bronx Bumble Bee
Envy prevents me from offering a proper description for this photo.
Auction 5: Greetings from Central Park
This one verges on being absolutely irresistable. A gift for your teenager?
Auction 6: Imagine (Living Life in Peace)
Even without having consulted with anyone, I feel I can say that this is by popular demand.
Auction 7: Seagull at Sunset
And if you think it's easy to get a seagull to pose like this ....
Auction 8: Venice Acrobats
I chose this lively photo partially so that I could say that there is an average of 2-3 people shown in each of these photos. (I learned that trick from Republicans describing rises in "average" incomes under Bush.) Also, it's just a great image capturing the spirit of Venice Beach.
Auctions end promptly at 7:30 p.m. PDT/10:30 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, August 7. So ... go bid now!
NOTE: ALL PHOTOS COPYRIGHTED BY THE RESPECTIVE PHOTOGRAPHERS.
(Note: This diary void where prohibited by Kos. Hopefully that doesn't happen.)
