Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?
Vincenzo knows.
If you will, dear reader, let your mind drift back a year to the site this once was. It was a lively site, to be sure. Alive with the crowing enthusiasm of many a gaggle of silly, silly people smearing the eventual nominee around the clock with ginned up "controversies" and minstrel show graphics. And who did they do it all for?
They did it for a man they trusted, a man whose obvious moral fiber and heartfelt belief in the causes we all care so deeply for inspired many to open their pocketbooks to a new kind of Democrat. Oh, his days of triangulation were over, they'd say. He was the only true progressive in the race and my stars what a day when he becomes president! Why, by sheer force of will, he'd take an uncompromising line with congress and all those fat cats in Washington. Universal health care was a virtual certainty. No compromise with the corporatists that make up a solid majority of congress! No compromise with anyone!
How they believed! The slick, southern white guy with a conservative, pro-war history was our great new hope. 'Cause you know, when you look in his eyes, you just know this is a man you can trust. This is a man who speaks with such earnest and intensity about the issues, who could help but be persuaded?
Such idiocy. You can see this guy is a liar just by looking at him. Christ.
Update: A bit of clarification on the poll -- this is before it was clear Edwards was going to lose and you switched. Back then Edwards was well over 50% in the straw polls here. Don't lie on the poll. Most of you were some kind of Edwards supporter. Santa is watching.
