Peter Wehner is a Senior Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center. (Reminds me of calling the Center something like "Cute Puppies in a Basket..." A line I "stole" from I've forgotten who. They want you to believe it's really about ethics and good public policy.)
This is what he wrote about Keith Olbermann, and appeared on Washington Journal and essentially said the same thing:
(Follow me below the fold: MSObama)
By now Olbermann's hyper-partisanship and straight-from-the-fever-swamps mentality — witness just about any of Keith’s "Special Comments" for ample evidence — is well documented. What is interesting to me, during the times I’ve tuned in to his program, is that he never interviews anyone who holds an alternative point of view. He appears — unlike the competitors he often obsesses about — to be afraid to expose his ideas to the light of day.
Today on Washington Journal, he praised Fox "News," O'Reilly, Hannity et al because they invite guests to be on their show with an opposite view point.
You can go and read the article yourself (although I hate to be responsible for adding to their online presence,)
but here's another "cute" tidbit:
One wonders if the journalists who appear on Olbermann’s program understand that they are simply props for a man who has become the go-to guy for the MoveOn.org, Daily Kos, and The Huffington Post crowd.
And another, and I'll stop here:
It’s an open secret that MSNBC, when turning its lonely eyes to Obama, feels (to invoke the unfortunate and slightly too revealing phrase used by one of its hosts, Chris Matthews) "a thrill going up my leg."
Peter Wehner also previously wrote this doozy regarding Media Matters "distorting" Limbaugh's quote of calling real soldiers "phony soldiers."
Oh, and by the way, if you're wondering what the mission is of the Ethics and Public Policy Center, I'll tell you:
The Ethics and Public Policy Center was established in 1976 to clarify and reinforce the bond between the Judeo-Christian moral tradition and the public debate over domestic and foreign policy issues.
I'm sure you're not surprised.
And a little background on little Petey (probably all you need to know about him)
Mr. Wehner served in the Reagan and George H.W. Bush Administrations prior to becoming deputy director of speechwriting for President George W. Bush in 2001. In 2002, he was asked to head the Office of Strategic Initiatives, where he generated policy ideas, reached out to public intellectuals, published op-eds and essays, and provided counsel on a range of domestic and international issues. Prior to joining the Bush Administration, Wehner was executive director for policy for Empower America, a conservative public-policy organization. Mr. Wehner also served as a special assistant to the director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy and, before that, as a speechwriter for then-Secretary of Education Bill Bennett.
That part about reached out to public intellectuals, I wondering how he knew how to locate them. Just saying...
Oh, and that statement he made about MSNBC, something hilarious about that:
Mr. Wehner has also appeared as a commentator on Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, and C-SPAN television.
Another "Oh," it seems like little Petey likes to appear on C-Span Washington Journal every August.
I found this comment by Kovie, who described Petey's appearance on Washington Journal in August of 2007, almost exactly one year from today.
Let me just end this by saying that if it weren't for Keith Olbermann constantly and consistently reporting facts and telling the truth, finally, I'm not sure I would have had the wherewithal to continue to fight for what's right.
It's no wonder a guy like Wehner doesn't like him... he's afraid of Keith and his power to tell the truth.
