I stumbled across this ad today and found it just smashing. It's obvious that if Obama can successfully attach McCain to the Bush sinking ship he'll win big. But the task isn't easy, since so many out there still believe McCain is some kind of maverick (I'm talking to you, traditional media). Showing the kisses and the hugs between McCain and Bush, while effective, just isn't enough. And while I think the Obama campaign has put out some really solid negative ads of late, this ad, by CartwrightDale, just nails it.
Without further ado, here's the ad:

For those who can't view it, the ad juxtaposes Bush's falling popularity (with voiceover saying that the more the countries gets to know Bush, the more they dislike him) with McCain's increasing affinity for Bush as evidenced by his voting record. The visual is a moving chart with Bush's numbers going down and McCain's going up, so by the time we reach 29% approval of Bush, McCain is voting 100 % with him. It's very effective.
Does Obama need to do this ad himself in order to win? No. But the great thing about his candidacy is how it inspires people to get involved in a multitude of ways. And while the Obama brain trust is truly impressive, there's nothing smarter than millions of people working for you. If anything, this ad is a reminder that the brainpower is clearly on our side.
Update: CartwrightDale posted it yesterday. I'll keep this one up since it deserves more attention. Here's his diary: http://www.dailykos.com/...
Update 2: Glad to see another diary on the ad made the rec list. If you haven't hit it, go there and rec it up so it stays on the list: http://www.dailykos.com/...
