I see handwringing beginning over this nomination thing with Hillary.
I think it's time for a little common sense and to get the real lay of the land regarding this whole thing.
Barack Obama took control of the democratic party from the Clintons and is in charge of the 2008 convention. He is very detailed and organized. And he is not going to let anyone spoil his convention.
Barack Obama is a savvy man who is in control of what is happening in his campaign and at this convention.
Just like with the republicans going after him. He knows what he is doing and has his strategy. Let them shoot all their good stuff off now in the summer when no one is paying attention and exhaust themselves. Obama loves to build the drama up like a good book. Expect him, like in the primaries and leading to Iowa, to take control of the election in the fall and slap both McCain and the republicans silly.
And just as savvy is his control of the democratic party and this convention.
Hillary is speaking Tuesday night but, not the keynoter. Instead that goes to the face of the now and future of the party, Mark Warner.
Bill speaks on Wednesday but, while he waxes about himself and his era, look for him to be followed by the vp choice who will speak of the here and now.
Then on Thursday Obama speaks at Invesco Field. Who is going to be thinking or talking about the Clintons after Obama gets on stage, the 45th anniversary of 'I Have a Dream' and gives his powerful oratory in his acceptance of the nomination?
Along with this lineup, there are few of those associated with the Clintons speaking. Those few will get to speak in off times while Obama people speak mostly in prime time.
Obama is a person to control things behind the scenes without saying much. But, just like moving half the party to Chicago to make sure they are part of the new face of the party, he will be controlling the convention.
Hillary will have her say, and her supporters will have her in 'nomination'
But, is it for real.
Do not think for a moment that Barack Obama and his people will not be controlling this 'nomination'. It will be stage managed every minute and this will be mostly for show for Hillary's supporters but, there will be no going off the script.
Obama's camp will make sure of this.
During the DNC Hearings on Florida and Michigan recently, David Plouffe was there behind the scenes for the Obama camp. Obama had his people there but, you just did not see them or hear about them.
There is a reason Obama beat Clinton and her machine. And did so effortlessly.
But, for those who are supporters of Obama, I am surprised by how little faith you have in Obama, and have not noticed the way he does things.
You gravely underestimate this man.
