Yesterday at the Aspen Institute, John McCain made another "oops," as he called the Georgia v. Russia conflict the "first probably serious crisis internationally since the end of the Cold War."
Uh, Senator, what about the Gulf War?
Or 9/11?
Or the Iraq War?
All those seemed like crises to me... and to the thousands of Americans who gave their lives at the hands of terrorists or in an invasion in the Middle East.
Wait, invasion. That sounds familiar...
But just a few days ago, Sen. McCain said "In the 21st century, nations don’t invade other nations."
So I'm not sure how he characterizes the Iraq War, if it wasn't a crisis and it wasn't an invasion? Because I think we've all moved past the "we'll be seen as liberators" rhetoric.
Since I haven't seen the Aspen Institute quote elsewhere here, I wanted to get it out on Kos.
